A website and a blog, in one place
Most blog services give you a blog. Pagehaus gives you a website that has one: your home page, an about page, a
contact form and your posts, all on your domain and all in your design. Write the pages by hand, start from a
template, or let an AI assistant write them, and keep the blog alongside.
How it compares
| Blog platforms Substack, Ghost, WordPress.com | Static site generators Hugo, Jekyll, Eleventy | Pagehaus |
| Writing | An editor in the browser | Markdown files on your computer | Markdown in the browser, or files over SFTP |
| Publishing | A button | A build command, then upload or a Git push | A button |
| The rest of your website | Pages inside the platform's design | Whatever you build | Any HTML you like, with shared headers and footers |
| Newsletters and comments | Often built in | Through other services | Not offered: RSS and contact forms instead |
| Leaving | Export, then rebuild elsewhere | Your files | Your files: plain HTML and Markdown |

Questions
Is the blog free?
Yes. The blog comes with every plan, Free included. Posts and images count towards your plan's storage, like any other file.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, on Personal ($4 a month) and Pro. The blog's links, feed and sitemap use your domain once it's connected.
Do I need to know HTML?
No. Posts are written in Markdown, which is plain text with a few symbols for headings, links and lists, and the editor shows a preview as you type. If you do know HTML, you can use it in posts and change every page of your site.
Can I move my blog somewhere else?
Yes. Your blog is plain HTML files in your site, and your posts are Markdown files next to them. Download them over SFTP and they work on any web host.
Does it have comments or a newsletter?
No. Readers can follow along with the RSS feed, and you can add a contact form to any page without code. If a newsletter is the heart of your writing, a newsletter service will suit you better.
Can I import my posts from WordPress or Medium?
Not automatically yet. You can paste a post's text into the editor, or upload Markdown files to your blog's posts folder over SFTP and publish.
Can an AI assistant write posts for me?
Yes. With Pagehaus connected to Claude or ChatGPT, an assistant can write and edit posts. It saves them as drafts unless you ask it to publish.
